1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Cart To Link handles information when you use our Chrome extension, Safari Extension App, website, APIs, and shared cart pages (together, the “Services”).
2. Information We Process
Amazon cart information
When you use the extension on a supported Amazon cart page, it reads cart information needed to create a shareable cart. This may include:
- Product name, Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN), product URL and image URL
- Price, currency, quantity, availability and estimated cart total
- The Amazon marketplace or regional domain you are using
The extension does not intentionally read or collect your Amazon password, payment card details, shipping address, order history, or private Amazon messages.
Information sent when you create a link
Cart information is first processed in your browser. When you choose “Create Share Link,” the extension sends the cart information described above, the generated Amazon add-to-cart URL, the item count, and a short cart title and description to Cart To Link’s server. We use this information to create and display the shared cart page.
Shared links are public to anyone who has the URL
Do not create or distribute a shared cart link if the products themselves reveal information you do not want others to know. Shared carts do not include your Amazon account credentials, payment details, or shipping address.
Extension data stored in your browser
The extension stores preferences and basic usage counters, such as first-use time, links created, items shared, and toolbar display settings, using browser extension storage. These counters are currently used locally by the extension and are not sent to Cart To Link’s server. Depending on your browser settings, Chrome or Safari may synchronize extension settings through your browser account.
Website and shared-page data
When you visit Cart To Link’s website or a shared cart page, our server may process your IP address, user-agent or browser information, referring page, requested short code, and request time. We use this information to deliver pages, count visits, diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and protect the Services.
A shared cart page stores a price snapshot in your browser’s local storage so it can show changes since your last visit. This snapshot stays on that browser or device unless you clear site data.
Information you provide
If you contact us or submit a question through the Q&A form, we process the information you provide, including an optional name and email address, to review the question and follow up where needed. Q&A submissions are kept private until reviewed; submitting a question does not automatically publish it.
3. How We Use Information
- Create, display and maintain shareable Amazon cart links
- Refresh available product information and estimated prices
- Let recipients review products, select items and continue to Amazon
- Operate affiliate links and measure aggregate website usage
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors and improve reliability
- Respond to support, privacy and deletion requests
4. Storage and Retention
- Shared carts: Shared cart records are stored on our server. At present, shared links do not have a fixed automatic expiration period. They remain available until they are deleted, deactivated, or no longer needed to provide the Services.
- Access records: Server access and click records may include IP address, user-agent, referrer and time. We retain them as reasonably necessary for service operation, security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
- Browser storage: Extension preferences, local usage counters and last-visit price snapshots remain until you clear browser data, reset the extension, or uninstall it, subject to browser synchronization settings.
- Support messages: We retain correspondence as reasonably necessary to answer requests and maintain support records.
- Q&A submissions: Questions and optional contact details are stored on our server for review and support. You can request deletion by providing the question reference shown after submission.
Information is transmitted to our Services over HTTPS. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
5. Third-Party Services and Links
- Amazon: The extension reads supported Amazon cart pages at your direction. Shared pages may use Amazon product-information services to refresh available product data and link back to Amazon.
- Amazon Associates: Shared carts may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Cart To Link may earn from qualifying purchases.
- Statcounter: Our website and shared pages use Statcounter for website analytics. Statcounter may process technical and usage information according to its own privacy terms.
- Browser providers: Chrome and Safari provide extension storage, permission and synchronization features under Google’s or Apple’s terms and settings.
- Social and communication services: If you choose a WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, X, email, or similar share button, you are directed to that provider and the cart URL is supplied for sharing. That provider’s privacy policy applies.
- Hosting and infrastructure: We use service providers to host and secure the website, API and stored cart records.
6. Cookies, Local Storage and Analytics
Cart To Link uses browser local storage for the last-visit price feature. Statcounter may use cookies or similar technologies to measure visits and usage. Amazon and social-sharing providers may use their own cookies after you follow a link to their services. You can clear or restrict cookies and local storage through your browser settings, although doing so may reset price-history reminders or affect site functionality.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- You can disable website access, disable the extension, or uninstall it through Chrome or Safari settings.
- You can clear extension storage and Cart To Link site data through your browser.
- You can choose not to create or distribute a shared link.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with a shared cart by contacting us. Include the short Cart To Link URL or short code so we can identify the record.
- Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional privacy rights. We will respond to valid requests as required by law.
We do not sell personal information. Cart To Link does not use cart contents for targeted advertising.
8. International Processing
The Services may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we take appropriate steps to protect information transferred across borders.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the “Last Updated” date. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
